Our Team
Cass F. Beals - In Memoriam
Cass F. Beals served as a Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years. He passed his CPA exam in his first sitting and has worked exclusively in Public Accounting. He had trained under and worked for large regional CPA firms and was offered a partnership in a previous CPA firm. He had a diverse background that includes experience with various industries and all business entity types.
He believed an accountant should be approachable, easy to speak with and had an interest to learn about each client he or she works with. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated from Michigan State University and was a big Michigan State Spartan sports fan with season football tickets. He enjoyed time with his wife, Carol, and Yorkie–Chon dog, Gracie.
Cass F. Beals passed away April 20th, 2022.
John V. Caruana
John V. Caruana has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years. After graduating from Michigan State University, John worked for a national CPA firm where he obtained invaluable experience working with large businesses, municipalities, and school districts. John then decided he wanted to focus his attention on small and medium size businesses. His expertise in tax planning helps provide clients with the best methods to improve profitability while minimizing taxes. John has experience with virtually all industries and assists clients with special projects such as securing loans and grants from the various Covid-19 assistance programs. John is always willing to step in and assist a client when they have a special need. John holds memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accounts.
In his spare time, John enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.

Jeremy M. McVety
Jeremy M. McVety is a partner at the firm and has over 20 years of public accounting experience. He earned his accounting degree from Oakland University and obtained a master’s degree from Walsh College. In 2013, he successfully passed the CPA exam and became a Certified Public Accountant. Jeremy is very tech savvy and handles many of the firm’s technical areas. He heads up the firm’s Charter School Services department which provides accounting, and consulting services to charter schools. He works with an array of entities performing audits, review, compilations as well as tax planning and tax preparation services. Jeremy is also a partner in the Wealth Management division known as Beals, Caruana & McVety Wealth Strategies, LLC which was started in order to provide the firm’s clients with an in-house solution for achieving retirement and financial success. He plans on obtaining his security license. When Jeremy is not in the office you may find him serving at his local church, out in the woods hunting, hiking up and down a mountain, or spending quality time with his friends and family.

Veronica M. Pelak
Veronica M. Pelak (Ronnie) is the firm’s bookkeeper. She has over 30 years of experience in bookkeeping and, also, tax return preparation. She excels at completing her tasks efficiently and accurately. She has a diversified background in doing everything for small/medium-sized businesses. She has experience with all payroll matters and client accounting, including bank reconciliation, account analysis, sales tax filings, and preparation of financial statements. She also prepares individual tax returns and business tax returns for various entities.
Ronnie enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, and her friends on Wednesday nights for bowling.
